ASTM D2843 Touch‑Screen & PC Dual‑Control Building‑Material Smoke Density Tester
Model JCY‑3A ASTM D2843 Touch‑Screen & PC Dual‑Control Building‑Material Smoke Density Tester
I. Scope of Application
Developed and manufactured by Beijing Xinsheng Zhuorui Technology Co., Ltd. and Xunyu Technology Co., Ltd., this Model JCY‑3A touch‑screen & PC dual‑control building‑material smoke density tester is developed in accordance with the technical requirements specified in national standard GB/T 8627 *Test Method for Smoke Density of Building Materials Burning or Decomposing*. It is applicable to the determination of static smoke yield generated by combustion of building materials, their products and other materials.

II. Product Functional Features
1. Dual‑control mode: operation can be performed either via touch‑screen or personal computer, with free switching between the two modes.
2. One instrument supports multi‑PC concurrent operation; multiple computers can be online simultaneously to realize LAN sharing.
3. Main and auxiliary burners rotate automatically with accurate positioning.
4. Independently developed control program supports various test operations, data logging, real‑time curve plotting and automatic result calculation.
III. Relevant Technical Parameters
1. Maximum Smoke Density (MSD) and Smoke Density Rating (SDR) of specimens: continuously measurable within 0‑100 % with automatic calculation.
2. Error corrected by standard optical filter: ≤3 %.
3. Operating pressure of Bunsen burner: (210±5) kPa.
4. Flame application duration from Bunsen burner to specimen: 4 min.
5. Combustion burner: Bunsen burner, length 260 mm, nozzle diameter 0.13 mm, mounted at 45° to the smoke chamber.
6. Photoelectric system: bulb light source, rated power 15 W, operating voltage 6 V.
7. Exhaust system: equipped with high‑power exhaust fan to discharge waste gas outdoors upon test completion.
8. Smoke density measuring range: 0‑100 %.
9. Smoke density measurement accuracy: ±3 %.
10. Receiver: silicon photocell. 0 % transmittance means no light passes through; 100 % transmittance means unobstructed light transmission.
11. Operating pressure of main burner: 276 kPa (adjustable); auxiliary burner is optional.
12. Automatic timing, automatic ignition and automatic smoke exhaust; phased linear calibration for luminous flux to guarantee accurate test data.
13. Touch‑screen display:
a. Size: 5‑inch; effective display dimension: 11 cm (length) × 6.28 cm (width)
b. Resolution: 800 × 480
c. Communication interfaces: RS232, 3.3 V CMOS / TTL, serial‑port communication
d. Storage capacity: 1 G
e. Pure hardware FPGA‑driven display, zero startup time, ready for operation once powered‑on
f. M3 + FPGA architecture: M3 for instruction parsing and FPGA for TFT display, delivering high speed and reliability
g. Low‑power processors adopted for main controller; auto‑enter energy‑saving mode
14. Gas source: 95 % propane gas or coal gas of equivalent purity (supplied by customer).
15. Overall dimension (L×W×H): 740 mm × 500 mm × 900 mm.
IV. Operating Conditions
1. Ambient temperature: 0 ℃‑40 ℃.
2. Relative humidity: ≤85 %.
3. Power supply and power consumption: 220 V±10 %, 50 Hz, 100 W.
4. Gas pressure: 0‑0.3 MPa (adjustable).
5. Environmental & test requirements: Avoid strong direct light or reflected light shining onto the instrument during operation. After 90 min of continuous testing, shut off gas supply and allow the instrument to cool down for 15 min.
6. Ambient airflow: No forced air flow while instrument is running.
7. Tests shall be carried out inside a fume hood.
V. Instrument Structure
The instrument consists of two main assemblies: smoke chamber and control unit.
Smoke‑chamber assembly: On left and right side panels of the smoke chamber are power switch, safety indicator switch (backlight switch), gas regulating device and exhaust‑fan control switch.
VI. Design Standards
GB/T 8627 Test Method for Smoke Density of Building Materials Burning or Decomposing
